PET STYLISTS OF TENNESSEE, INC.

BY-LAWS

 

ARTICLE  I:  NAME

The name for this organization shall be known as Pet Stylists of Tennessee, Inc.

 

ARTICLE  II:  OBJECTS OF THE ORGANIZATION

The objects shall be as stated in the MISSION STATEMENT. PST is a non-profit organization for fellow groomers to exchange concerns and networking ideas to promote high standards of integrity and professionalism in grooming skills, business ethics, safety issues for both groomers and pets, with emphasis on continued education.

ARTICLE  III
:  MEMBERSHIP

The membership is open to any pet groomer who works in the State of Tennessee. Further membership shall be available to individuals, regardless of their position, who work or own a facility which offers grooming services. The officers and board shall have the right to review all membership applications upon receipt and shall vote at the next board meeting that is held after receipt of application.

 

ARTICLE  IV:  ADMISSION FEE AND DUES

A membership form shall be completed by each individual wishing to become a member. This form shall be filed with the Secretary, and have a fee of $40.00. In order to retain membership, an annual fee of $40.00 shall be paid to the Organization.

 

ARTICLE  V:  OFFICERS  AND  BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The organization shall be governed by officers and directors elected by the membership and shall serve one year.

  1. Officers and their duties shall consist of the following:
    1. President—shall preside over all meetings and the panel of directors; also, be willing to break any tie vote should it become necessary.
    2. Vice-President—shall preside over said meetings in the absence of the President and oversee any committees established during the year.
    3. Recording Secretary—shall keep and record all minutes of any meeting and help maintain the historical archives for the organization.
    4. Treasurer—shall collect and disburse any and all funds as deemed necessary, and further shall be bonded.  Any checks shall be signed by two people:  the Treasurer and one Officer.
  2. Board of Directors—shall consist of five people elected to serve one year to govern the business of the organization.
  3. The main directive for all Officers and Directors shall be to oversee the general business of the organization which shall include operations, membership, committees and disciplinary procedures.

 

ARTICLE  VI:  MEETINGS

Meetings shall be the first Monday of each month, unless that Monday is on a Holiday, then the proceeding Monday would be the meeting for that month. The location shall be designated monthly within the city of Knoxville.  The purpose of all meetings shall be as described in the Mission Statement and Objects of the Organization.

 

ARTICLE  VII:  AMENDMENTS TO BY-LAWS AND RULES

At such time as the membership wishes to make any change in the by-laws and working rules, such change shall be presented for a vote and will require at least  2/3 (two thirds) of those present and voting in the affirmative to make a change.

 

ARTICLE  VIII:  DISCIPLINARY

The Officers and Directors shall oversee any regulations imposed by the membership.  Should an individual fail to comply with the professional standards of membership set forth by the Organization, a warning shall be issued. If after three warnings, the individual fails to comply, that individual shall be suspended from membership until such time as they can prove they have amended any deviations.

 

ARTICLE  IX:  RULES

Working rules and committees shall be established throughout the year and such proceedings shall be recorded by the Secretary. The Officers and Directors reserve the right to make changes as deemed necessary for the operation of the Organization.

 

ARTICLE  X:  DISSOLUTION

Should the Organization fail to function under the MISSION STATEMENT and OBJECTS, then, with a 2/3 (two thirds) vote, the Organization may be dissolved and all monies accrued shall be donated to the Young Williams Animal Center located in Knoxville at Sutherland and Division Street.

 

ARTICLE  XI: CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP

      We recognize the need to setup “sister” chapters in the Middle and West regions of the State.

(A) Each chapter must abide by our constitution and By-Laws;

(B) Each chapter must keep a record of each meeting and keep a sign in log with each person attending;

(C) A monthly report of each meeting shall be mailed, or emailed within thirty (30) days to the Secretary of the Parent Organization;

(D) Upon selection of officers and board for that chapter, the Treasurer shall file a copy of a financial statement (copy of bank statement) on a quarterly basis to the Treasurer of the Parent Organization;

(E)  A copy of completed membership forms shall be forwarded to the Secretary of the Parent Group’

(F)  Fees—Chapter/individual members

(1) The annual chapter fee of $300.00 shall be waived the first fiscal year;

(2) A ten dollar ($10.00) per individual member the first year, and five dollars ($5.00) per member starting the second year and every year afterwards shall be forwarded quarterly.

(G) Any dissolution of a sister chapter, all monies accrued shall be turned over to the Parent Organization within a thirty (30) day period.
