Entry Fees
There will be four levels of grooming competition offered for all classes:
First Timer anyone who has never competed and has been grooming less than one year.
First Timer........anyone who has never competed and has been grooming one year or more.
Novice ..anyone who has never won three first places at this level
Intermediate ..anyone who has never won three first places at this level
Open .anyone who has reached a level of higher achievement by competition or experience is eligible
Classes for all four levels are: 1) Poodle; 2) Terrier; 3) Sporting; 4) Mixed Breed & Other Purebreds; 5) Creative Grooming
There will be a Special Class for Cats (no divisions, or levels). We welcome any of the cat groomers.
The Host Hotel, Holiday Inn Select downtown, is pet friendly, but please do not abuse the privilege. You will be responsible for any damages. There is a great area next to the Convention Center to exercise your pet. Please be responsible and clean up after your pet!
Dogs must have reasonable length of coat to define actual grooms for competition. It is recommended that you should have a minimum of five to six weeks worth of hair growth.
There will be a bathing area for the dogs; however, if you need to use the bathing area, you must sign up. You also will be responsible for cleaning up in this area.
The pre-judging will take place thirty minutes prior to each division. For pre-judging, all dogs must be prepped prior to entering the ring. This should include bathing, drying, matt-free, ears clean, nails trimmed and sanitary trim work. Poodle entries may have bottom of feet shaved but not the top. Dogs entered in Creative Grooming must abide by the same rules except they also may have coats colored prior to entering the ring, or they may wait to color in the ring. Creative Grooming is open to Cats.
During the pre-judging, the Judge will determine by size how much time will be allotted for the in-ring competition. Small dogs under 11 will be given one hour, a medium size 11-17 will be given one and one half hours, and dogs over 17 will be given two hours. Hand-stripped Terriers will be given thirty minutes longer in each size division. Cats will be given one hour. Creative Grooming will have a total of three hours to groom and set up, as well as take a break for their pet.
Creative Grooming is being sponsored by National Association of Professional Creative Groomers, NAPCG. Therefore, the following Coloring Product Rules will be adhered to. The use of bleach and oxidizing dyes is not permitted. Oxidizing dyes are defined as any coloring product that is not purchased ready to use and/or must be mixed with a developer.
Any Adhesives must be water soluble. No hot glue guns, Super Glue, or Vetbond. Tapes may be used, but those with strong adhesive are not permitted. Painter's tape or masking tape is permitted. Duct tape is not permitted.
Decorative touches such as bows, beads, glitter, ribbons, rhinestones and hair extensions (attached humanely) will be allowed.
Any prop placed on or attached to the dog must not inhibit the dog's ability to move, hinder it's vision, or inhibit free movement of ears, legs and tail.
Heated Hair straighteners and curling irons will be permitted. Please take extra caution to avoid injuring the dogs with these products. The skin will be checked for burns. Singeing of the coat is not permitted.

*Sharpie Markers are not permitted to be used within 12 inches of the eyes, ears or mouth.

________________ is sponsoring the grooming tables to be used in the grooming competition. The tables will be sold at Show Prices and available after the competition. Please go to ____________ Booth to purchase a table. If you want to use a table in the holding area, you will need to bring your own. There will be no dryers allowed in the ring. There will be a grooming area provided for crates and dryers. A complete set of rules and regulations will be made available to all contestants once the entries have been received.
The Creative Design Promenade is for any dog or cat groomer wishing to walk the runway with your pet displaying simplicity of design with clean lines showing how pretty. Groomer may also dress accordingly.
